Goddess Saraswati

Standard

A wise uncle said something to me last month that really stuck. He said “When you have a talent, it is something that you have been blessed with.  The second you think that a talent is yours, it’s lost.” The word he used to describe it was “vinaya”, meaning humility.

It was shortly after that day that I started drawing Goddess Saraswathi, the goddess of knowledge. I don’t know if these two incidences were correlated, but I thought I would share the story nonetheless.

Random Updates:

This week has been a busy one! I am singing for another Bharathanatyam Arangetram on Saturday, so my schedule is full of orchestra rehearsels, raagam sessions with the paati, and delicious South Indian food. It’s definitely a very unlikely time for a blog update, but I was able to free up some time by forgetting to do my Spanish homework :P

Felt Rose

Standard

In 2009, the last time my multi-talented grandmother (paati) visited, she taught me how to make roses using felt, wire, and gardening tape. Unfortunately, I haven’t really used felt since her last visit, but my paati is back! I hope to get an interesting art project in before the end of the summer :).
