Paint Nite Donation

Standard

I worked for Paint Nite Toronto for 7 great months! I learnt a lot, and accumulated boxes of beginner level paintings! I decided to donate these paintings to my United Way Charity Auction at work, and the Handicare International Charity Auction in November. Not only will I donate to two great causes, but I will also clear space in my parents garage :) Win Win!

Of course, since most of these paintings were completed in less than 20 minutes, each painting may not fetch much. However, I hope to gain some power in numbers:)

I wish all of you a very very happy Ganesh Chaturthi :) My mom is currently making appams at home, and my sister has been texting me pictures (Awful!). I can’t wait to go home and celebrate with them!

A few weeks ago, my temple had approached me to paint a few permanent Kolams (South Indian Rangoli like Designs) onto the floor of the temple. I quickly accepted their offer! Not only did it seem like a really fun project, but I also hold this specific temple very close to my heart.

I have many kolams to go, but here are a few I have already started working on. The large one is approximately 5.5 feet x 5.5 feet, and the others are 2.5 x 2.5 feet.

Colourful Abstract Peacock Painting

After checking out Paintlouge in Markham and trying out Acrylic Paints seriously for the first time, I finally made it back to the Paintlounge in Toronto to learn how to build textures. The amazing 3D effect was a lot of fun to develop, and I had a great time practicing the techniques on this colourful freestyle peacock :)

As a Paint Nite instructor, I always tell my friends to find a location near them and check out Paint Nite. It’s a super relaxed environment and a lot of fun. That being said, PaintLounge is a great place to build on techniques, and the overall environment there is really inspiring.

Batman Explosion Painting

Batman Explosion

This painting was commissioned by the same friend who commissioned the Superman Painting back in 2013. This painting was definitely a challenge, but I was thrilled with the results! This oil painting is on a 24×36 inch canvas.

Indian Christmas Cards

I made a pair of unique Indian themed Christmas cards for a friend. Her sister likes India and Monkeys, so I went with an Indian Monkey theme (This never happens). Her other friend is Indian at heart but is also a candy loving doctor, so I added a candy cane stethoscope at the back.

The Newest Artist at Paint Nite Toronto!

Standard

PaintNite5

If you haven’t already heard about Paint Nite, its a great North America wide organization that you should definitely check out! I had been to a Paint Nite with some friends, and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. People who had never lifted a paintbrush in their lives were creating amazing works of art, and it really brought out the imaginative child in everyone.

I’m extremely excited (and lucky) to have the opportunity to share my love of the arts, and be a part of such an awesome initiative!

If you were thinking of checking out a Paint Nite, now is the time. There is a Groupon, which means the entire experience is only $27! Check out paintnite.comor my personal Artist Page to pick your event :)
