As a part of my first card order of the season, I made 7 Seasons Greetings cards using acrylics and gold pen on high quality watercolour paper. If you liked the way they turned out, please remember to order your Christmas/ New Years Cards from Sri’s Arts! I can customize the size and design, and it’s never too early to get excited about the holiday season :) . Email me at srisarts @ gmail for details.
A friend ordered a combination of 10 Diwali and Seasons Greetings cards from me. Soon after I finished those, I had some gold paint left on my palette so I decided to make one last Diwali Card. This is done with Ink, gel medium, gold acrylic paint, and gold pen on 100% Acid Free Canson Watercolor paper. I will be posting the remaining Diwali Cards tomorrow, and the Christmas/New Years Cards shortly following that. If you would like to make an order for Diwali Cards, let me know ASAP as Diwali is coming up on October 26! To make an order , send an email to srisarts at gmail.com with your contact information and I will either call you or send you an email within the same day with further details.
And this is a picture of the first three layers
I recently got a Red Ink bottle, and as a result of not cleaning my nib well enough, there was just enough black leftover to add great texture to the Red Ink. I also added a thick medium to gold paint to see what would happen.
The result were these two cards, which followed my recent phase of Ink with Acrylics. One, I specifically made with Diwali in mind, and the other has a simple mango border that would work for any Indian Function. It’s hard to tell in this grainy dark picture, but the gold is really shiny and the literal ‘pop’ worked out really well with the red ink. The paper is quality water-colour card paper.
I had a piece of scrap paper leftover, decided to make it into a bookmark, and loved the result! I attached the bottom of the bookmark with a magnetic strip. Soon, I will be posting the bookmarks on Etsy, and as always, you can contact me personally at srisarts at gmail.com for a customized order.
Additionally, I made two more cards. One of them follows the theme of the bookmark (Which I think is very dramatic) and one is in the floral theme that always seems to creep into my work. I used my nib pen and ink pot for both of them, and the colours in the flower are done using acrylic paint. Actually, my ink blotted so I had to cover it up with a painted piece of paper that said “Smile!”. Ink is definitely a very unforgiving medium to work with. It blots very easily, and you can’t “erase” a mistake away!
Now for sale :)
So a while ago, I started up an Etsy page, where local artists can sell their work. I haven’t updated this page in a long time, however if you would like to order personalized handmade cards from me, please contact me at srisarts at gmail.com
The bookmark above will be sold online for only $0.75, to cover the cost of materials. For customized bookmarks, you will need to contact me personally. They make great little gifts for book lovers, and will soon be a very personal stocking stuffer.
Most of the cards you see in my blog can be purchased for $3.00 (Or $2.00 for a mini size- about the size of a palm). It’s cheaper than cards at hallmark, and each card would be handmade and unique! You can also customize the size to fit your envelopes at home.
If you are interested in ordering, or have any questions or comments about the blog, I would love to hear from you :)
This past week, I made two more cards. I’m starting to have more cards than events, but I’m sure they’ll come in handy.
For these stylized cards, I started with Acrylic Paint on water colour paper, and added Black India Ink. I haven’t worked with Inks in a while, so I enjoyed making these cards.
On my Etsy Page I posted several cards and jewelry items, and last week I got my first order. It was an order for 10 snow flake cards which I finished last night. I used card paper, ink pens.
This is a picture of the snowflake grid cards:
I got a little creative with the remaining 5 snowflake cards, and made each of them a little different.
If you’re still interested in getting Christmas Cards, or any last minute homemade gifts, then visit my etsy page or send me an email at srisarts at gmail.com
This past week I made a few cards, which is nothing new. However, what is new, is that now you can purchase any of these cards online at http://srisarts.etsy.com ! There are also some jewelry items available. If there is something you’d like to see available, something from my blog you’d like to purchase, or a custom card/ jewelry item made, feel free to drop an email at srisarts at gmail.com. If you know me personally, order directly and you can eliminate shipping charges etc. :).
Either way, if you haven’t been to Etsy, it’s a great place to pick up some home made/ vintage items, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
Here are the cards that I made this week.
